A couple of snap-shots from Pete...
Actually... how do I post photos without having to put them on flickr or that buck-fucket thing first?
Later, after having arsed about a bit....
It looks like I'll have to down-size my recent photos by a factor of ten to put them on here; can't really be arsed with that.
Bob, where did you get this forum software- Oxfam, about 1998?

After heeding the warning, and waiting 7 days, all worked fine. I used Botophucket because my computer skills are appalling, and it seemed so easy for me to work.
In my opinion, Bob has done really well here....I wouldn't like to attempt such a task.

Greg,
I'm sure that Bob is trying his best... he is very trying.
Actually; I'm surprised how far this thing has gone in such a short time- well done to Bob and thanks for taking the trouble. Seriously.
Now; getting back to our normal method of proceeding.... Bob, this emoticon: (I'm sure that the word "emoticon" did not exist in a 1965 Grammar School boy's (note the apostrophe- singular, rather than plural... intimating oneself, rather than one's class-mates, collectively) lexicon. However- it does rather look like wot you do; so well done, old chap, for putting yourself up to be shot at. Innit?
Re: A couple of snap-shots from Pete...
Well done, Pete. Now that all the 'being nice stuff' is out of the way we can get down to doing what we do best.
More of your pitchuz, please or else!
More of your pitchuz,
Re: A couple of snap-shots from Pete...
For Pete' sake ( ) can I do nothing right? Here I am in my dotage grappling with the latest technology just to please that Old Galoot from Manchester, and all I get is lessons on the use of the apostrophe, and criticism of my 'software'.
It's enough to drive me to drink.
Pete OLD friend, I am sorry that you are being put to so much trouble posting some of your elegant snaps on site, I do hope that you can be persuaded that it will be worth the effort.
I am a simple soul and if I find something that works I tend to stick with it, like Greg, as I am too impatient to read instructions, and in any case rarely understand what the 'techies' say.
I use my Skydrive site for storage of pictures and as a means of posting, but mainly it is Picasa, as to whether it is better than other hosting sites I don't know, but I have learnt how easy it is to use so stick with it.
Being retired and having plenty of time to spend on mucking about means that I am able to set-up and administer the forum and I am so pleased by the response from all of the members.
Maybe we could post a link to your site, and save you the trouble of posting?
Anyway many thanks for your kind words on my efforts, but I am much more at ease when suffering your insults and jibes. It is good to know where one stands.
Kind regards you miserable beggar,
Bob.

I'm now back from that Scotland, only to find that almost everything in our house has packed up while we have been away! Garage roof leaking, toilet cistern overflowing... TV recording thing had recorded anything except what it was asked to record! Garden has become overgrown in ten days- how does that happen? No petrol for lawn-mower and both our cars are diesel; so I tried to syphon some out of an Elan and bloody poisoned myself! Two more of our double-glazing units have misted up, so now I'll need to change the lot...
Old age used to be easy.
www.petetaylor.org.uk will show you some of my photos, just look for the galleries which might have something to do with cars.
3 wheels on my wagon...
I'm trying to remember how this 19th century budget software works...
Nope- try again...
Nope...

Well... not the photo I intended but you get the idea.
I'm struggling both with the recent (really stupid) changes to flickr, which seem to have alienated just about all users (despite what we beta-testers told them) and Bob's choice of software which sets a file-size limit of 800 thingies. My Nikon D700 photos are much larger than that and if I get a D800, they will be huge; down-sizing every snap and hosting that on flickr just to post it here is not something that I really have time for at the moment.
There's a set of motor sport photos on flickr here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/16096573@N02/sets/72157623180963352/ and you can read my contributions to Sports Car Illustrated, as the season progresses here: http://www.sportscarillustrated.com/ I'm usually to be found in the Historic Racing and Motorsports sections.

Re: A couple of snap-shots from Pete...
I've not found a way to upload photos direct to messages on this site yet; possibly this is due to flickr but, whatever, it seems we are transported back to the past, again, again, again...

Here is a shot of us buggering about in the Birkin team Bentley, along with a 2003 Le Mans car in the centre of Liverpool.

Still not too sure if this is working out...

Shirley it should be possible to just paste photos direct to the forum, rather than all that crap above?

Yeah! Thanks for one miserable cup of coffee DN, no burger and chips, no apple pie and custard, not even a can of lager, but I'm grateful.
Despite the foregoing it was nice to meet one of The Damned in person. First time ever. He's mighty, minty, matey.
I am expecting/hoping that we may get a couple of new members before too long, I sort of think that about 20 or so would be an ideal number, as long as they are all positively vetted beforehand and personally know to an existing member. There is no rush growth should be organic as organic is so much healthier I'm led to believe.
Should anyone have a friend who can put up with the ethos of being Damned, bring 'em on.
Re: A couple of snap-shots from Pete...
The day wasn't wasted though. I got a suntanned face & saw some nice old cars being raced hard.
Must have been exciting, 'in their day' with the tracks much more dangerous, works teams at it hammer & tongs & the cream of the drivers in them. I imagine they were a handful in the rain.
Bob - I might stretch to a fairy cake next time. When was the last time you pedalled to a meeting?
Hope your friend enjoyed it, too.

Peter,
I have been browsing through some of the earlier posts on the site, and at the risk of causing offence have you tried posting pictures using the appropriate method?
In the fifth 'box' above if you click on the second icon it brings up a window where you paste your 'url (?) and low and behold your snap can be included in you post.
Hope this it not teaching Granny anything she already knows.
Cheers Old Timer.
