Where Will You Be ....?
I know Pete will be at Oulton Park this weekend, but I shall rely on the TV for my motor sport until the 5th. April when it will be the Aston Martin Owners Club at Silverstone, always a worthwhile event. I'll post some pictures on my new web site rbma.org.uk., after that it is Silverstone again for the VSCC Spring Start, two days of Vintage and Historic cars with some fabulous machinery to be seen on-track and around the paddock. A bit of sunshine and you don't get it much better than that,
Re: Where Will You Be ....?
We are off to Scotland on Monday and then, more or less, on holiday right thro' to 27th April when I'll be at Donington for the British GT races. back there the following week-end for the Donny Historic, then it's the Gawsworth Hall Classic Car Rally on BH Monday 5th, so I'll miss day 3 of the Donington Festival.
Re: Where Will You Be ....?
I was at Silverstone for the Aston Martin Owners Club Meeting on Saturday, a bit windy and overcast with only a couple of brief showers to spoil the day. I will put a few pics on rbma.org.uk soon, if you like road cars from the '50's/60's take a look. A40's Mk1 Jags, Ford's, Consul, Zephyr, Popular. Morris Minors, Standard Vanguard etc. Great fun.
The VSCC next weekend, two days of nice cars and nice people, so let's hope for some nice weather.
How was Oulton Park Pete?

Re: Where Will You Be ....?
Promise never to say another word about Silverstone weather....I was punished for my trouble on the weekend at Wakefield Park. It pissed down poured with rain on Saturday, and my 15-year-old tyres refused to make contact with the track surface.
Sunday was much better, except for the wet patches - no Bob, I am not referring to my underwear !

Re: Where Will You Be ....?
Subject to approval by the management, I shall be at the VSCC Spring Start this weekend, Donington for BTCC, GT Cup and Historic Festival then back to Silverstone for the HSCC meeting in May. Hoping to get to the Oulton Park Gold Cup too.

Re: Where Will You Be ....?
Damned 1 will be there both days and would be delighted to meet up for the splendid lunch mentioned. Say 12.00 outside Paddock Diner entrance from paddock?
I'll PM mob no. tomorrow, it's bed time for me.

Re: Where Will You Be ....?
Well done Greg, clearly you are an ace tuner and preparation expert, and one mega driver ....... however, photographic skills from 'Down Under' leave something to be desired. A little 'photoshop' can help.
Wowser, Mate!
Bob.
Re: Where Will You Be ....?
Bob, you are too kind..."something to be desired" is an understatement. I am sure we don't have a photo shop in our village, and rarely venture in to 'the big smoke'. My only camera has a telephone built into it - which is quite handy. Please forgive me!
Photography has never been of much interest to me...family, business, and cars always seemed to be a higher priority. Have had a look at some of your work though, by the way - flamin' marvelous.

Re: Where Will You Be ....?
Hey Greg,
I am assuming (well one would) that you are not the one taking the photographs, you being in the car at the time, so there was no intended criticism of your photographic skills.
I was merely pointing out that anyone with a free 'photo editing suite' could improve the quality of your images (Not your personal image, of course, which requires no further polishing), as I hope the copy below will demonstrate. Naturally a 'proper photographer' like what Pete is, would not need to artificially enhance his efforts, as I am required to do in most cases.
Ok! Good Buddy/ You have a nice day y'hear!

Re: Where Will You Be ....?
Old dogs, new tricks?, although I did manage to 'post pics'. Mick O'Brien [275GTB-4 on TNF] helped with the 'post pics thing, and he would probably help me find the photo shop....or suite shop? There's bound to be one in our town. Joking aside [difficult for me], thanks for your help and advice, Bob.
Mick took those photos, by the way....with a camera not much bigger than a match box!

That Beetle is fearsome. Especially with that restrained attitude in curve. Love it.

Re: Where Will You Be ....?
Regga, even after Bob has 'sharpened up' that photo, you cannot see what is going on under that helmet. My attitude was far from "restrained".
Ohhh, do you mean the Beetle....with [almost] all 4 wheels now on the track?

Re: Where Will You Be ....?
Silverstone Classic Media Day tomorrow (Wednesday) I'm hoping for some sunshine, as the 'Wing' is a pretty dreary place at the best of times, and rain makes it truly depressing.
Should be lot's of interesting machinery and people about, I might even be able to add to my 'Claims to fame' portfolio.
Watch this space!

Re: Where Will You Be ....?
Where have you been....? - To slightly change the subject.
Last Saturday I went to Richard Hinton's (RTH) TNF film show on the subject of Jim Clark this time.
It was the first time I've been after being introduced, by chance, back in January.
Some of you guys - especially the UK based ones, surely know about these events?
Thoroughly enjoyable day, I found.
Have any of you been before? What do you think? There seem to have been some interesting themes in the past.
Have any administrators (no names no pack drill) not gone for fear of meeting people he's upset?
Cheers all

Re: Where Will You Be ....?
DN, I had to cancel my booking last week for Saturday's film show, for urgent family reasons. I have been in most of them in the last couple of years and they are really interesting, Richard Hinton is a brilliant organizer. His sister's food is great too. That is where I met David McKinney, we shared a table and won (he won) the quiz. No fear to meet anybody, I owe nothing to anybody!
Hopefully I will make it for October, would be good to meet and give a good crack at the quiz!

Re: Where Will You Be ....?
Introduction of the TNF initials in to D&D is frowned upon unless accompanied by a stream of invective. I don't know about the Admin bloke but I have not been aware of the event under discussion. It would be ironic if a team from D&D (TNF ) were to scoop the prize.
Post more details.

Re: Where Will You Be ....?
Initially my response was to remark how common [and, at times, annoying] the use of initials is these days. Then I remembered the 2Rs :-

Rega,
I hope your family reasons are not too difficult & I'm sure we all wish you well.
I agree with everything you say. I never met David McKinney but understand what esteem he was held in.
I'm certainly tempted go again, depending on the subject. I was (by chance) teamed with a couple of real top notch quizzers (we came 2nd), so please do not hold onto any hopes that I will win you the star prize!
Look forward to it.

Purely by chance, I seem to have an 'in' with a couple of the top quizzers. They don't realize whom I am, so there is definitely the chance to 'infiltrate' & become a 5th column.
To that end, Commander, I will commence parachute training immediately & learn how to use a garotte stealthily...

Re: Where Will You Be ....?
Silverstone on Saturday was warm and sunny, a pretty unusual state of affairs, but the Historic Sports Car Club benefitted from the weather.
Big grids of classic and historic cars and close racing.
I was only able to make the one day, but there are pictures on www.picasaweb.google.co.uk/rbmapics if anyone is interested.
Next weekend it is 'something completely different' the Blancpain Endurance Series for GT3 cars. Mercs, Ferrari, Porsche, Audi, Bentley, Aston Martin, Jaguar, McLaren, and 3 hours of racing.
It's a hard life for the International Motor Sport Journalist.
Pete. I shall be at Donington for the Morgan Sports Car Club Meeting on June 8th., any chance you might make it?
Bob.
